The construction of the railway line between Moatize and the region of Sopinho and the deep water port of Macuse will start at the first quarter of 2017, assured the president of Zambezia Development Corridor (Codiza).
The port of Macuse and the railroad line of more than 500 kilometers are considered strategic and critical to the flow of coal and the viability of many projects planned in the Zambezi Valley.
The project of Macuse has an estimated cost of 3 billion Dollars and is held at around 60% by Italian Thai Developement Company Limited of Thailand, 20% for Moçambique and the remaining 20% by the Corredor do Desenvolvimento Integrado do Zambeze.
The President of Codiza said that had been spent to date more than 60 million Dollars in environmental impact studies and economic viability, necessary for project implementation.
