Angola consolidates its leading position oil producer in Africa, overtaking Nigeria in the second quarter of 2016, according to the data on the production of oil released by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) last Tuesday.
The data released by OPEC in its latest monthly report about the oil market indicate that Angola produced in the first quarter since 2014, an amount of 1,776 million barrels per day, against a Nigerian production of around 1,539 million barrels per day.
The chart prepared by the organization reveals that, in general terms, Angola was already producing more than Nigeria in 2015 (1,767 million barrels per day against 1,748 million), a difference that became more pronounced in the first quarter of 2016 with Angola producing 1,773 million barrels per day against 1,667 million barrels of Nigeria.
